At long last, we present you with the final event of the 2011 Traveling Twosome Olympics… Wrestling! Char and I headed into the final event with the overall score tied at 212-212. Up for grabs in this match is 100 points… and the championship in this year’s Olympics!
Last year we ended the 2010 Olympics with a bang holding an arm wrestling match before a live audience in Hot Springs, Arkansas at Maxwell Blade’s Theatre of Magic. We tied the match – Char won with one arm, I won with the other. Already being ahead in the games by 9 points, however, Char won our first annual Olympics. This year, we decided we had to do something to top last year’s finale. That left us with one obvious choice: a rematch of our famous mixed gender wrestling match that we held during the filming of the second episode of our TV Show, A Day in the Life.
In that episode, entitled “A Day in the Life of a Professional Wrestler,” Char and I were trained by pro wrestler Alan Steel before jumping in the ring in Little Rock during the 2010 SummerClash event. Yes, we were in the ring… against each other in a Battle of the Sexes match. Char won the match and that episode of our TV Show has been our most requested episode by far. Our fans have asked us to put on a rematch ever since. Everywhere we go, we meet people who say they discovered The Traveling Twosome through that show. I remember a recent encounter when Char and I were in Clarksdale, MS at a pizza restaurant filming for another episode of our TV Show and a kitchen employee approached Char and exclaimed, “I KNOW YOU! I SAW YOU ON TV! YOU WERE A PRO WRESTLER! YOU BEAT THAT POOR DUDE SO BADLY! HE WAS DOWN!” Char turned his attention to me, sitting across from her.
“Yes, that was me,” she said. “And that ‘poor dude’ was him.” Not surprisingly, I believe he asked for Char’s autograph… but not mine. Nobody wants the autograph of such a poor dude.
Wrestling legend “Nightmare” Ken Wayne operates an acclaimed school of professional wrestling in West Memphis, Arkansas – just over the Mississippi River bridge from downtown Memphis, TN. We placed a call and Ken let us use his ring for our rematch in the 2011 Traveling Twosome Olympics.
So… you all want to know who won the match, I’m sure.
The winner of the match, and champion of the 2011 Traveling Twosome Olympics with a final overall score of 312-212… is Char.
I’m assuming this doesn’t come as a surprise to most of you… maybe ANY of you. Below is the video of the match. Go ahead and hit play… have a good time at my expense!
And don’t forget… we’ll be starting all over in October for the Third Annual Traveling Twosome Olympics and we’ll be spending the next few months deciding how we’ll top this year’s finale. I can assure you… after this year’s experience I think I’m throwing in the white towel when it comes to wrestling Char. Any other suggestions for me?
