The overall score of the 2011 Traveling Twosome Olympics was tied at 162-162 with only two events left:  Wii Competition and Wrestling.  For the Wii Competition we played four games from Wii Sports Resort, each worth 25 points.  Three Point Shootout, Power Cruising, Bowling, and Frisbee were our chosen events for the competition.

Three Point Shootout

Char began the basketball event either genuinely confused or having pulled off a good imitation of a confused girl.  As the Wii demonstrated how to grab the ball and shoot baskets, Char seemed clumsy and awkward.  I offered to show her how it was done by going first and providing us a practice round.  On my round of play, I performed well and finished with a score I would have been proud of even it if were not a practice round.  Char took her turn and missed nearly every basket.  It was clear that this event was going to go my way.

With the practice round over, I began the competition.  I scored 11 lousy baskets.  That’s all.  It was a good thing I didn’t have much competition in this event!  Char began her turn… and scored 19 baskets.

One game down, 25 points go to Char… and she takes the lead in this year’s Olympics.

Power Cruising

As we began the next event, Power Cruising, I decided against a practice round.  I curved my way through all the checkpoints and finished the event with a score of 141.6.  For Char’s turn, it was a complete disaster.  She finished the event with a score of 92.1 and I was surprised she even scored that highly!  Two events in the bag… and we were tied up again!

If Power Cruising was “my event” then bowling was most certainly Char’s.  I don’t even want to get into what happened to me during these ten frames of trouble.  I couldn’t stay out of the gutter, continuously left pins standing on each frame, and failed to even break 100.  The final score… Char won the event 176-92.

Three events down and Char was in the lead by 25 points.  One event remained in our Wii Competitions.

Frisbee turned out to be the most fun event of the night for us, providing many laughs as we tossed our discs out for the Wii Puppy to catch.  It was also one of the more competitive events in the Wii games but I managed to hold Char back and I won the event with a score of 700-680.

Conclusion… and What Next?

At the end of four Wii games we each gained 50 points, bringing the overall score in the 2011 Traveling Twosome Olympics to 212-212.  Tied again.

One event remains before we close out this year’s Olympics:  Wrestling.  With 100 points on the line, our next event will determine the winner.  It all comes down to this… stay tuned as we post the conclusion of this year’s Olympics soon!  We’ve already filmed the match… it’ll be showcased on the post.  Who are you rooting for???

Char, ‘char’ is the Hindi word for the number four. That means that it would have taken four Louises to take down one Char 🙂 Hope that was reflected in the wrestling contest. Looking forward to seeing the fun-filled match. Cheers.
