The third episode of A Day in the Life takes us to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a tour of the city that’s been called “America’s Best Kept Secret.”  From the moment Char and I first stepped foot upon the the streets of Hot Springs, we were in love with the town.  Our trip took us to several attractions and eateries where we met many wonderful people.

This episode showcases various Hot Springs hot spots including Garvan Woodland Gardens, Cafe 1217, The Hot Springs Mountain Tower, The Arlington Hotel, Taco Mama, Quapaw Baths and Spa, Belle Arti, The Gangster Museum of America, Porterhouse Steak and Seafood, and Maxwell Blade’s Theater of Magic.

In this episode, which was filmed the same week as “A Day in the Life of a Professional Wrestler,” Char was also asked to take her arm wrestling skills to the test against several locals.  Watch the show to see how that turned out…

This episode of A Day in the Life attempts to be much more than a mere travel documentary.  It was our intent to create an intimate behind the scenes look at the heart of the people and culture of Hot Springs.  It’s a unique town unlike any other we’ve visited and we truly hope this comes across in our production.

Also included at the end is a trailer for our next episode, “A Day in the Life of an Elvis Fan.”

Your show really made us want to go back to Hot Springs again. We were there last year and visited some of the places you featured in this episode. A really neat city!

MAN! Char took that dude down in the restaurant like he was nothing and he looked like he had some muscles on him. Char, you earned my respect. I saw the wrestling show you did but just thought you had the advantage since Louis was much smaller but after seeing this episode, I think you could handle your own against anyone no matter how big or small! Great show, by the way. I love Hot Springs. Glad you did a show on that town.

I loved your show on Hot Springs. You really made me want to visit again, it’s been too long since I’ve been there. I don’t even remember the botanic gardens being there last time I visited. Did you get a chance to see the amusement park? I hear it’s got a water park and all. Just wondering why it didn’t make it on your show.

Char do people challenge you to arm wrestling matches everywhere you go? I bet you leave a lot of embarrased guys behind you whereever you go! LOL Loved the show. You guys have such a fun job!

We spent a day at the amusement park before we began filming for the show. We had a GREAT time! We plan on making another show about Hot Springs so perhaps we can showcase the park then! There is SO MUCH to do and see in Hot Springs that’s it’s very difficult to cover everything. That is why we have chosen to do another episode. WE LOVE HOT SPRINGS! We miss all of our friends there and can not wait to get back!

ROFLOL Luke, you cracker me up!!! Taco daddy WAS quite surprised that a “chick” could whip his catookas! I must say, he does have some mighty good strength about him too! He was a great sport. Not many men could handle such embarrassment on film! *grin*

Glad you enjoyed the show! Stay tuned for upcoming episodes. We have quite a few in the making!! And be sure to visit Hot Springs. Let them know “The Traveling Twosome” sent you and send our love! We try and get back there as often as possible. Our friends there are more like family. We love and adore them all!

My daughter, granddaughter, and I took a road trip to Hot Springs, AR.
One of our delights was meeting Char and Louis. You gave us ideas about where to go and where to eat. All your suggestions were outstanding. The best part of our trip was meeting you both. I want to hear Louis play the piano some more. You both are fabulous and we adored you both…sincerely, Lana

Wow. I just saw this video because I read the comments in the ‘Paper Football Rematch’ post. I think the woman realized pretty quickly that she had no chance but I loved the look of intimidation on her husband’s face when he gingerly squeezed Char’s bicep. It said – ‘yikes, this woman is going to overpower me right in front of my wife’. But I agree that he was a wonderful sport. I would have reached for my cell phone and escaped on the pretext of taking a call 🙂

Gems – that was certainly the most funny moment of the entire time we were filming that episode!

  • July 3, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Gems, there was a fitness trainer behind us watching it all! He was completely on my side telling his wife they had no idea what they had just gotten themselves into! He said they didn’t stand a chance. He also commented about my strength…and seemed pleasantly shocked. It was hilarious! Great sports! They are GREAT people and their restaurants are some of the best I have ever eaten at!
