Considering what happened to me in the Arm Wrestling Event during the first day of The Traveling Twosome Olympics (not to mention how Char wiped the floor with me in our recent wrestling match), today’s event just might go down as the biggest upset in the entire month long competition marathon.
Char entered today’s Tug of War contest heavily favored to win the 100 points up for grabs in this event. While she did put up a decent fight, it ended up being a fairly one-sided match with me claiming a relatively easy victory.
The event started in the Wolf River – yes, I said IN the Wolf River. We tied a ribbon in the middle of the rope and stood at each end. The winner would be the one who was able to first get to the ribbon, untie it, and hold it in the air. The first attempt ended in a draw. We both reached the ribbon and began struggling to get it off the rope. Neither of us did and we called a draw. We started Round 2 and this time, I won the match. Char immediately began calling foul-play. Of course, this wasn’t the case as can be witnessed in the video. But being a good sport, I let her have a rematch… this time in the sand with more traditional Tug of War rules. Again, this event saw me claiming the victory.
Char was clearly surprised to have lost this event. At the end of the day, my victory placed us at a tie in our cumulative score for the Olympic Games. We both stand at 100 points. Tomorrow’s event is one that will most certainly see me moving ahead in the points… paper football. I have only lost one game – ever – of paper football in my entire lifetime. That game was against Char, of course, but I’ve held that it was a fluke. I see no way that she can beat me at tomorrow’s event. Check back tomorrow as I plan on pulling ahead in the points.
Until then, enjoy this video of our Tug of War event held today at the Wolf River… make that IN the Wolf River… in Memphis, TN.
