"A Day in the Life of a Professional Wrestler" Comic Book featuring The Traveling Twosome and Alan Steel

On June 25, 2010, we filmed “A Day in the Life of a Professional Wrestler,” the second episode of our hit internet TV show, A Day in the Life.  This episode has received great reviews and we’ve loved reading all the feedback from our fans!  A Day in the Life showcases Char and myself as we take on other people’s jobs, hobbies, or towns for a day or so.  In this episode, we hooked up with Traditional Championship Wrestling (TCW) and pro wrestler Alan Steel as we learned the ropes of professional wrestling.  After our training, Char and I entered the ring at Little Rock’s Clear Channel Metroplex during TCW’s SummerClash event and went toe to toe against each other with Alan Steel serving as guest referee.

As much as I’d like to say we had a close and tough battle for the title belt, I must admit that Char pretty much controlled the entire match from the ringing of the bell until I was down for the 3 count.  The entire match and our training – as well as great interviews with the stars of Traditional Championship Wrestling – was captured for our TV show.  The show also includes a special interview with Lynn Margulies, girlfriend of the late Andy Kaufman – the Intergender Wrestling Champion – and newly released footage of Andy Kaufman from his intergender wrestling days!

This week’s pic is from the 2010 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.  This shot was taken backstage at The Orpheum Theater in Memphis, TN where the event was held during the annual Elvis Week festivities.  This year’s UETA winner was Justin Shandor from Portland, Oregon.  Justin is shown here with Louis and Char.  The Traveling Twosome first met Justin Shandor in 2009 in Tupelo, MS during the annual Tupelo Elvis Festival.  We were excited to see him win this year’s UETA contest!

Whether you call them garage sales, yard sales, carport sales, or family flea markets, you’d be surprised what you can find when you attend one.  Go early in the morning for good deals and prime selection.  But go later in the day – just before people close up shop – and you’ll not only find even better deals… you’ll also find hilarious people who are on the verge of heat exhaustion.

On a recent trip to some local garage sales, Char and I ran into just such people.  We scored some great finds in the way of books, craft material, children’s goods, etc.  But the real fun was just going around with Char, enjoying a Slurpee, and hunting for the rare finds.  Of course, we captured our fun on video.

In this week’s episode, Louis and Char celebrate Elvis Week 2010!  They speak with professional impressionist Kevin Adams about his work performing as Elvis and his days living just behind Graceland.  They also announce new contests coming up in the near future:  Tug of War and another arm wrestling rematch.

One fine June evening after returning home from a date night out, Char and I filmed several short videos for The Traveling Twosome website.  Some of these videos included a banana peeling competition using just our feet, a ridiculous attempt at dancing, a paper football match, etc.  At the end of the evening, she reminded me we had another arm wrestling match scheduled for July.  She seemed pretty tired from all the evening’s festivities and I was still bright eyed and bushy tailed as they say… I thought I would use this to my advantage…

“Char,” I said slyly, “we should practice for next month’s match like we did last time… here, let’s go….”

She turned the camera back on and sat down across from me.  As we began, however, she didn’t seem so sleepy anymore.  This is how it went down… (21 MB .M4V file, playable in Quicktime, iTunes, or any browser with Quicktime support)

Char finds a matching horse in our Germantown Horse Hunt

Germantown, TN.  The Germantown Charity Horse Show began in 1948 and attracted thousands of horse fans each year.  In celebration of the event’s 60th annversary in 2008, the city of Germantown, TN was decorated with 21 artistically designed fiberglass horses placed throughout the town’s many shopping centers and businesses as well as along the roadside.  Drive almost anywhere in Germantown and you’re bound to run into one of these unique creations.

Char and I decided to film a video tour as we went on an unguided horse hunt through the city.  The horses of Germantown will remind you of the painted cows in Chicago, the turtles in Tampa, the guitars in Tupelo, or maybe the pigs in Cleveland.   They were placed in Germantown in June, 2008 and were auctioned off for charity in October of that year.  The money raised by the sale of each horse went to the charity of the artist’s choice.  After the auction, the horse buyers allowed the horses to remain in place throughout the city.  You can still visit them today throughout Germantown.

This week’s pic is from last Friday, August 6 when Char and I were on Sirius XM Elvis Radio (Sirius 13 / XM 18) with George Klein.  We were shooting footage for our TV Show episode, “A Day in the Life of an Elvis Fan.”  George Klein is a great guy and we had a blast hearing about Elvis Presley from the man who was with him from the 8th grade until Elvis’ death in August, 1977.  George Klein shared stories about Elvis, we talked about our A Day in the Life TV Show, and we talked on air with DJ Fontana and Ray Walker.  Pictured here is The Traveling Twosome with George Klein’s producer, Jim Sykes.
